Are You Funny? Here's your chance to prove it to us, to the world, to that "bleep" who said you were too dull to go to the prom with! Much like the undead, who feed off the brains of the living, Laugh Rocket feeds off the jokes INSIDE the brains of the living! We're always on the lookout for fresh humor - without it we decay and are easily smote down by swarthy action heroes. You can write stuff down or videotape it. But we have to keep things tasteful on the mobile service. For now, your best chance to get on Laugh Rocket lies in the clever, not the Obscene. We've fought tooth and nail against our use of the "E-word," but as always happens the suits won out. There's a rough ETHICS policy in place. We know it hurts us too. So try to keep your submissions of equal to or lesser offensiveness than Helen Keller jokes. Originality This is the key at Laugh Rocket. We can scour the web for jokes as well as anybody, but we want to hear the real stuff. Keep 'em short, preferably not longer than 30 seconds. Our reviewing team consists of professional humorists, folks in charge at Laugh Rocket and hamsters. The hamsters are the real killers, they're brutal and just start running on their wheels or eating wood chips if submissions run too long. Make them happy. Written Submissions We want to your Obs. You know, those quirky observations about life and living that makes us all realize just how wacky our world really is. We want both the Simple and the Complicated Ob. In any case, you'd better sharpen your rapier wit, ready your mental sword, because...we want your most clever, most idiosyncratic, most brilliant Ob. The one that reflects your unique take on life - the one that just might make it on the cell phone. Send us your OB		Videotaped Submissions We know all the kids these days are recording their own video on DVDs and CDs and everything. But at the moment, the compression process we use to get high quality video requires the highest-quality images available. That means VHS/Hi-8/Mini-DV. This isn't ideal but for the moment it's the only way to guarantee quality. Shooting Instructions Go outside, find a bright sunny spot and set up your camera. Tripods are best for the camera, not only because it keeps the frame steady but also because tripods are favorite vehicles of alien invaders and we want to pay homage to those freedom-loving renegades from beyond the stars. Frame your face with just a tiny bit of your neck showing. In other words, WE WANT A CLOSE-UP! Roll the tape, look directly into the camera and SAY YOUR NAME. We need to hear you, so make sure the sound is working! Shoot the joke. Try giving several "takes." Let us pick the best one. Get somebody to help you, preferably somebody not close to you so your feelings won't be hurt. Everyone on tape needs to sign a separate release. Important Legal Stuff Direct from our crack legal team: The tapessss and Obsssss are ourssss. We own them, we own the material on them. We may throw it out the window. The choice is ourssss and ours alone. Release READ OUR RELEASE. It's perhaps the most vicious release form ever written. We hired lawyers from the depths of the Pit with pens of sharpened cattle bones and legal pads of pressed lined human skin and ink brewed from the blood of innocents. But please read it, print it out, sign it. If you're under 18 have a parent or guardian sign it. Include the release with your submission.
